Sascha Pohle's video work Reframing The Artist from 2010 is currently shown in the Grey Room at Goethe Institute Beijing. It was filmed in Dafen Village in Shenzhen known for being the place largest art production place in the world emplying hundreds of painters making reproductions of well-known artworks on an industrial scale. The film reenacts scenes from Hollywood films about famous artists, played by the "copy artists" in Dafen Village in their own studios. The work elaborates on the idea of the remake and invites the painters to physically impersonate the artists whose works they are reproducing on a daily basis. It also highlights the romanticised image of the artist in Hollywood films such as Surviving Picasso, Colour Me Blood Red andRicky Cristina Barcelona.
