Croisements seminar: The Three-dimensional Image

Join us this Sunday for a min-seminar/dual artist talk by artist-in-residence Julien Maire (FR) and Wen Zhu (CN) currently exhibiting in Black Sesame Space at IFP. The presentations will be followed by a discussion with a panel of two critics.

Artists, designers and researchers have started to examine possibilities of a third dimension to organise and understand our present in a more and more complex reality characterised by an overflow of information and images. Represented both in physical and virtual space, these three-dimensional images explore their inherent technology and spatiality while staying critical towards their medium. This seminar assembles artists and critics whose work explore the third dimension of image representation.

Julien Maire is a new media artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Metz and created some impressive works such as "Exploding Camera", "Low Res Cinema", "Demi-Pas" and more recently "Man at Work". Since the mid-90s he works at the intersection of several disciplines such as performance, media installation and film and produces live-performance works, hybrid both in genre as in media. His installations and performances have been presented internationally at a.o. Ars Electronica, Digital Art Festival, European Media Art Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, Sonar, Transmediale, ZKM, etc.
